Kitty Hawk Kites Wright Kite Festival
Wright Brothers National Memorial. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This kite festival celebrates 105 years of flight with professional kite fliers from all over the world. Spectators can see a large kite including a 75ft. octopus and 40ft. mantaray's, fly in the air at the base of the Wright Brothers Monument. Build a Boat in a Day
North Carolina Maritime Museum on Roanoke Island. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Build an 8 foot plywood boat. Teams will build a boat using the stitch and glue method. Workshop cost includes all materials and finished boat at end of the day. Cost: $275 members / $300 non-members. Minimum age is 8 years old with adult. Workshop limit is 5 teams.
