I was a lifeguard at this beach when it opened in 1967. They had hauled sugar white sand in and covered the area and it was absolutely gorgeous. The floods the following year washed it all away. Geez!..
This beach is great for walking on , but not too many people swim here anymore. At one time hundreds of people used to be here swimming on the weekends. Now, just a handful can be seen.
At the furthest end of the beach, I think you can still pull canoes and the like in to shore.
